One of the reasons I love photographing babies & children ~ besides the obvious fact that I’m given the gift of documenting & preserving some of life’s most precious, fleeting moments, of course, is that it is always, ALWAYS a challenge. This challenge remarkably leaves us with images that I like to refer to as “little miracles”.
This session was no exception. My little girlfriend here really made me work that day, but what was revealed was sooo worth it!
The irony, however, was that her Mom & Dad were concerned that she would be “too shy” and not cooperative…well, once she realized that she had me wrapped around her finger, she was on the beach, and it was all about her, she found her Freedom to soar, explore and be perfectly imperfect for an hour and a half. Woo-Hoo!
Isn’t this what we all yearn for? To be ourselves, give up the fight or flight that we find ourselves consistently engaged in and simply land in the power of the present moment?
Right here…right now…that delightful freedom we knew as a child…always there beneath our habits & thoughts & tendencies.
For today, and those days when we find ourselves down about life’s shortcomings, let’s remember that we can turn off that negative self talk and allow ourselves to feel that freedom: to feel the joy, the wonder, the balance & the complete acceptance & surrender of “what is”.
Thank you, little Miss Caitlyn, for reminding us of the sweet, juicy spirit that lies just beneath the surface that we all have access to in any given moment.
And that’s a wrap!
