Documentary Family Photography in Rhode Island — Will *The Real You* Please stand up?

What exactly is “documentary photography”?

Documentary photography usually refers to a popular form of photography used to chronicle significant and historical events.  It is typically covered in professional photojournalism, or real attempts to produce truthful, objective, and usually candid photography of a particular subject, most often pictures of people.” ~Wikipedia

Let’s break this down a bit and look at what the heck this means for you:

1.  Documentary means that it happens naturally, in your environment vs. posing

2.  Record a person’s true self and their real personality.

3.  Creates a story and leaves a legacy – think documentary films and famous portraiture

I love documentary style photography for children and families because it speaks to life’s stories in a real way.

When faced with a choice, many people choose this style of image for their wall art.  It speaks to who you are and tells a story of  your “real” world in a way you may want to remember. There’s that something more in the image that has a documentary element to it like a look in the eye, body language or an object that’s sentimental in telling what’s unique about you and what connects us.

It’s easy.

It’s your story.

Celebrate your life.
